The famous arcade game Frogger was made by Konami in 1981. The goal of the game is to get your figure, the frog, from the bottom of the screen to the top.
Depending on the settings used by the operator, the game starts with three, five, or seven frogs (lives). The player moves a frog from the bottom of the screen to one of five spots at the top of the screen that is his home. In the lower half of the screen, there is a road where cars, trucks, buses, dune buggies, bulldozers, vans, taxis, bicycles, and/or motorcycles are going fast in different ways. In the top half of the screen, there is a river with logs, alligators, and turtles that are all moving horizontally. The five "frog homes" are at the very top of the screen. Each frog will go to one of these. Every level has a time limit, so the player has to move quickly to finish it before the time runs out.
The only thing the player can do is move the frog with the four-way controller. Each push in a direction makes the frog hop once in that direction. On the bottom half of the screen, the player must move the frog between opposite lanes of trucks, cars, and other vehicles so that it doesn't become roadkill.
After the road, there is a main area of the screen where the player must get ready to cross the river.
The player can get his or her frog safely to one of the empty lily pads by jumping on quickly moving logs and the backs of turtles and alligators, except for the alligator teeth. The player has to avoid alligators that stick out of one of the five "frog homes," snakes, and otters in the river. For extra points, the player can catch bugs or help a lady frog. When all five frogs find their way home, the game moves on to the next level, which is harder. After the first five levels, the game gets easier for a short time, but then it gets harder again until the next fifth level.
