In this action-adventure game, Fireboy and Watergirl are investigating a mysterious temple that is filled with crystals that power magical gateways. If you want the heroes to explore different areas of the map, you'll need to activate the portals. It is your mission to retrieve the blue, red, and white jewels and guide each hero to the correct exit.
Examining the crystals on the gateways for their respective colors will help you determine which ones belong together. Not only are Fireboy and Watergirl able to go through the portals, but you can also push blocks and other things through the portals in order to transport them to a different location. The portals have two sides, and the direction in which your heroes exit the portal is determined by the side from which you entered it. The destination of each portal is indicated by a black and white glow within the portal.
The two heroes are going to have to cooperate in order to complete each platform puzzle level. You'll need to press the buttons and pull the levers in order to open the doors, elevators, and crystal portals. Some buttons will need to be depressed in order to maintain the position of a door or platform, as well as the operation of a fan. Some of them have timers built into them, and when you click the button to turn them on, a miniature clock will appear underneath it to indicate how long they will remain lit.
